Professional Radon Testing

Here's an overview of the process:

1.    Hiring a Professional: It's important to hire a certified radon measurement professional to conduct the testing. These professionals are trained to use accurate testing equipment and follow standard procedures to ensure reliable results.

2.    Testing Equipment: Professionals use active radon testing devices. Active devices, such as continuous radon monitors, continuously measure radon levels over a specified period. These devices are calibrated and certified every year.

3.    Placement of Testing Devices: The testing device”s” are strategically placed in different areas of the building, including basements, over crawl spaces, and living areas, to capture variations in radon levels.

4.    Testing Period: The device”s” are left in place for a specified period, typically 48 hours, to obtain an accurate measurement of radon levels.

5.    Data Collection and Analysis: After the testing period, the device”s” are collected, and the data are analyzed to determine the average radon concentration in the building.

6.    Reporting Results: The professional provides a detailed report of the radon levels measured during the testing period. If the radon levels exceed the recommended action level set by regulatory authorities ( 4 picocuries per liter), recommendations for radon mitigation measures will be provided.

7.    Radon Mitigation: If elevated radon levels are found, radon mitigation techniques can be implemented to reduce radon concentrations within the building. These techniques may include sealing cracks in the foundation, improving ventilation, or installing a radon mitigation system.

Overall, professional radon testing is essential for identifying and addressing radon gas levels to ensure a healthy indoor environment.
